A resident of the Lageado Center is the victim of an online scam involving a fake website pretending to be an e-commerce business. The victim, who did not want to be identified, reported that he believed that he had participated in a financial service in the company, in which he would be rewarded for attracting and making products.
After making three transfers on Pix, a total loss of R$ 12,187.00, he realized it was a scam. The changes are made to the third party’s bank account.
How the scam works
The victim received a call from someone who identified himself as an employee of the company. The fraudster gives him the opportunity to participate in the financial services of the company, where he will receive money for simple tasks, such as liking products and purchases.
To participate in the program, the victim was instructed to access a fake website that was based on the Shopee platform. On the website, he provided his personal and bank information, and made three changes on Pix.
