GEB will bring high-speed internet to 19,000 people in La Guajira with EnlazaNet

Grupo Energía Bogotá, GEB, through its subsidiary Enlaza, presents the EnlazaNet pilot project to the country, an initiative that allows the provision of high-speed internet connection using electronic transmission.

In the first phase and after an investment of more than $4,000 million, EnlanzaNet will benefit 4,000 children and 60 teachers from 10 schools in Riohacha, La Guajira. This investment was made possible thanks to the support of the connection of its partner, Sisteco, and the system of its heritage in operation, La Guajira Electric Reinforcement lines.

At the launch event, the company sent this device to the community of Riohacha, marking an important milestone in Colombia. since Grupo Energía Bogotá became the first power transmission company to provide telecommunications as a system of its lines.

As part of this commitment, at the presentation held in Riohacha, the Minister of Information and Communications Technologies, ICT, Mauricio Lizcano, announced EnlazaNet 2, a second phase of the program that , In partnership with Grupo Energía Bogotá and with an investment of $29.8 billion, it will bring connections to 15,000 people in Riohacha and Maicao.

The event had the virtual participation of the mayor of Bogotá, Carlos Fernando Galán, who is the majority owner of Grupo Energía Bogotá, celebrated the launch of this device, pointed out GEB’s role as the first company in the country to bring connectivity to remote areas through its transmission lines.
