The GeForce RTX 4060 is a mid-range graphics card that not everyone likes at all, and that has caused controversy since the moment it was announced.
NVIDIA has said that it is up to 20% more powerful than GeForce RTX 3060, that it works better and thanks to DLSS 3 it has given more FPS value. Thanks to TechPowerUp we can see what its real relative performance is compared to its direct competitors, and we also dispel the myth that it is slower than the GeForce RTX 2060.
At 1080p the GeForce RTX 4060 is a bit faster than the Radeon RX 7600 on the hardware frequency, and with its overclocked versions it is up to 7% more powerful than the AMD card. At 1440p it is 2% stronger than the Radeon RX 7600 in its stock version and 6% in its overclocked version, and in 4K it beats it up to 14% in its overclocked version.
The GeForce RTX 4060 beats the Radeon RX 7600 in performance, efficiency and thermal performance. It still beats the GeForce RTX 2060 by a big difference (on average) in 1080p, where it beats it up to 35% in its overclocked versions.
Its average ray tracing performance is higher than GeForce RTX 2080, and slightly lower than 16GB Radeon RX 6800. Compared to Radeon RX 7600 the difference is 25% of the average in view quality of NVIDIA graphics. It also performs 18% better in line tracing than the GeForce RTX 3060.
With DLSS 3 its performance is greatly improved, and it can double the performance in 1080p. In raw power it is not expected, it is not fully achieved, but it cannot be said that it is a bad card in its range.
As you always have a table of characteristics of similar models, our basic text with each card is also updated with this information.
