The Ministry of Communications (CRC) has published a report on mobile Internet that shows how the services are working in the country during the second quarter of 2023.

The total mobile Internet traffic reached 977 thousand Terabytes (TB) (more than one thousand GB) in the second quarter of 2023, a figure that is equal to 38.8% more compared to the second quarter of 2022.

The report shows that from June 2023, the Internet connection in the phone of Colombia shows a growth of 9.1% compared to the same month of 2022, reaching 41.4 million entry and entry of 79.2 per 100 inhabitants, 5.8% more than the same month of the year. years ago.

According to these figures, the average traffic count for one access to 8.4 Gigabyte (GB) in June 2023.

On the other hand, the connection with 4G technology continues to increase, reaching a total of 36.3 million, which represents 87.7% of all Internet connections in the country, while 2G and 3G penetration continued, with annual decreases of 52% and 15.5%, respectively.

For June 2023, the average income of using the Internet on the phone was $19,187, showing a difference of 1.7% compared to the same month of the previous year. For its part, the average income per GB is $2,273, which represents a decrease of 21.1% compared to the month of June 2022.

Nicolás Silva Cortés, president and director of the CRC, concluded that the monitoring process carried out by the organization as a renewal shows that the use of mobile Internet in the country is still relevant behavior grows in traffic, with the greater use of these services. from Colombians.

He also pointed out that “in the future we hope that these models will continue to be integrated, based on better plans and more deployments by employees to provide the better service, all for the benefit of users.”
